Museo Nacional Del Prado

Category : Travel

We went to Museo Nacional Del Prado next. It has a lot of paintings from artist such as Titian (Tiziano), Diego Velázquez, Francisco de Goya, Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino (usually known as Raffaello, Raffaello Urbino or Raphael), Peter Paul Rubens and El Greco. We went to the main rooms first and saw some young people trying to replicate the paintings. They painted very nicely. The next thing I noticed was that some artists (the real artists, like Tiziano and Rubens) painted the same scene and the museum put the two paintings close together so that you could compare the difference between the two paintings. Very convenient and I liked examining differences. We also found out that there is a painting called Las Meninas here which is a very famous painting by Diego Velázquez. We immediately went to see it and there were a lot of people looking at it, so we needed to squeeze through the crowd to see it. It looked like this:

there was also a picture that was in one of Evan’s books. The painting looked like this:

We also found out that there was a picture called Danaë receiving the Golden Rain by Tiziano, so we left and got a little lost along the way, which meant that we would meet a little Goya along the “lost” path. He painted very nicely, and made it look as if there was light shining through his paintings. Then, we finally found Danaë receiving the Golden Rain and looked at Tiziano’s other pictures as well as Danaë and went out of the museum. It was one of the best museums, we agreed!
