Evan’s 4th Birthday

Category : Travel

It’s Evan’s birthday (yay!) and he’s been counting down days until today. We decided to go to Oceanogràfic, a humongous aquarium. Evan likes animals and anything that is alive. Such a nature person! We went to the Mediterranean building first, and saw jellyfish, fish and morays. Then we went to the aviary (for some reason, Oceanogràfic has a aviary) and saw birds, which I called cloud-birds and tomato-birds because of the color. There were also turtles called red-eared sliders that pushed each other off the log that was in the middle of their enclosure. Some birds landed on turtles and Evan thought it was hilarious (it kind of was). Next we went to see the penguins and sharks. The sharks were in a shark tunnel and the penguins (Humboldt and Gentoo) were in separate enclosures, and were kinda cute. Next stop: walruses, beluga whales and seals! The walrus was big, brown, fun and played with the cubes in the middle of the enclosure. I liked them. The seals were little, fast and sometimes swam on their backs. I liked them too! The belugas had 2 enclosures to themselves. There were 5 of them: 2 moms and 3 kids. They were very fun, swimming around their enclosures, the white whales!

The only thing we didn’t see was the dolphin show, and that was where we were headed. It started with some tricks, like swimming on their tails and doing flips in the air. Then they had a little dance with the trainers, and ate their reward: fish. The last things that they did was some more tricks. It was great.

Oceanogràfic was very nice. Evan and I cannot wait to have a day like this again!
