My Mom, Evan and I went to Gardens by the Bay, a very big, modern, futuristic botanical garden that we could see from our building. It is a world famous garden that even appears on a Singaporean coin. The garden comprises open gardens and two large domes, called the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest. We arrived, bought our tickets and took a cool shuttle to the first conservatory – the Flower Dome. It has plants from all over the world. We saw baobabs (trees from Madagascar), all kinds of cacti, and so many other beautiful flowers and plants. We also saw beautiful Christmas displays with artificial snow. Evan asked to touch it and before we knew it he was knee deep in it! We had to quickly pull him out so that he did not get caught!
The Cloud Forest is a big conservatory with the biggest indoor waterfall in the world. It is called a cloud forest because there is a lot of mist. You can walk under the waterfall and go to the top of it. The top houses the most rare plants in the cloud forest. We also discovered a movie that told us that if humans (homo sapiens) don’t stop pollution, the earth will get hotter by 5 degrees (celsius) very soon. There are a lot of orchids over there, and orchid is Singapore’s national flower. We had the best time in the gardens, and we got back, we went to our pools, because there were 4 of them in our apartment building. We love Singapore!!!
