Our first days in Hong Kong: The Peak and the Symphony of Lights

Category : Travel

Our flight to Hong Kong was smooth and easy. We came to the airport at 7:00 o’clock PM and I was very excited. We took a cab to our apartment and, when we came, we were shocked by how tiny the place was (HK is one of the most populated places on earth so space is very limited)! There were 4 tiny rooms. 2 of them were bedrooms and one of them the bathroom. The last one was the kitchen, dining room and living room (all in one!). It was very different from all the giant places that we stayed in all the other countries. It was very nice though

The next day we went to the Victoria Peak (HK people call it The Peak). We boarded a tram that would take us to the Peak Tower, a tower on the top of The Peak. You can go to the top of it and look at the harbor and city. We also went to an exposition called Madness Adventures. There are pictures of things and you pose so that it looks like you are in the picture (it is a lot of fun!). Then we went to another tower, came to the top of it, and looked around. You could see everything from there! After looking around we walked around a bit and came back when it was dark. The lights turned on in the city and….. oh, it was beautiful!

A day or two following it, we took a ride on a famous star ferry to see the Symphony of Lights. The Star Ferry is a ferry that takes you across the Victoria Harbor and you can see the amazing Hong Kong skyline. The Symphony of Lights is a light and laser show that happens every evening and it holds a Guinness record for the largest permanent light-and-sound show in the world. All the skyscrapers are now lit up for Christmas, so the show is especially nice. We stood on the Kowloon side of the harbor and watched all the buildings on the other side. There was a song and the laser lights moved to the music. It was very nice.
