Grandma and Grandpa, Welcome to Madrid!

Category : Travel

Today I woke up to see Grandma and Grandpa sleeping next to me. I woke them up, said hello and we all had breakfast. I was so, so happy they arrived!!! Then, Mom, Dad and Evan woke up and we went to show my grandparents Madrid. We went to Palacio Real de Madrid first. They really liked it and we actually saw the king and queen’s army!!! There were people in armor: some on horses and some on foot, some with gold-colored armor and some with silver colored armor. Because the Almudena Cathedral was nearby we also went to see it and saw that there was a HUGE line to get in there. We decided that it was time to go eat lunch and went to eat on the top of a building with a good view. It was nice, and we would see nice things after lunch!

Next we went to Plaza Mayor. It looked beautiful in the sun and we noticed that there were paintings on the walls of the square that were only stopped by the windows of the houses in the wall. We popped giant balloons that a man was making, and Evan and I got a turn to make them ourselves. Next and last stop, Jardines del Buen Retiro (El Retiro)!

We got four-wheeled bikes to ride around Retiro. The first stop in Retiro was the big lake in the middle of Retiro. There were boats that were swimming on the lake, but we didn’t go on the boats. We went to the peacocks and for some reason, they never opened their tails (unlike last time), but they were still beautiful. After Retiro we went home to get ready for our car trip to Valencia. Goodbye, Madrid!
