Boat Tour to Château d’If and Calanques

Category : Travel

Arnould (our landlord) had a boat, and he invited us on his boat to go to Château d’If and Parc National des Calanques. (A calanque is a narrow inlet, that is why the national park is called Calanques, it has a lot of them). His boat was very nice, a big yacht with a sail and 2 levels. We went from the port and set course for Château d’If. Arnould even let me pilot the boat. I was captain for most of the ride to the Château, and when we got there we stopped, admired it, and took some pictures. There is a book called “The Count of Monte Cristo” that involves the Château d’If and I recommend that you read it. We turned and went to Calanques. When we were going we needed to squeeze through a narrow gap in the rock. It was fun, watching the big boats go through! Arnould also told me that there was a place where we would dock and where you could swim with fish. So we went there and I dove into the water, and it turned out that what Arnould was saying was true. There was a whole colony of fish swimming around there! I probably went into the water about 7 times. It was nice. We also ate lunch over there. It was fish and salad. It was delicious! We stayed over there for a while. Then we decided to go back. I played violin. We also let the sails free. We were going at about 4.5 knots! It was good for me because I was captain the whole way, even when we were coming into the port!!!!!

It was a very nice day. I can’t wait to have another like this!
