Xin chào, Việt Nam!

Category : Travel

We had the weekend to go somewhere, so we chose Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, formerly known as Saigon. On Thursday, we flew off to Ho Chi Minh for 4 days. We landed in Saigon at 7:00 o’clock at night. We came out of the airport, and discovered that Saigon is hotter than Singapore! We got into a taxi, and the first thing we saw about Saigon roads is that: 1) There are more motorcycles than cars; and 2) There is so much traffic it is pretty much impossible to cross the road. I am not kidding, the traffic is horrible! People driving the wrong way, people driving on the red light, a lot of beeping, it’s CRAZY! I also think that the motorcycles carry too much stuff. We saw entire families on a single motorcycle! We also saw several people carrying boxes, large paintings, mattresses (!!!), and other things with them.

We got to our flat. It was on the 41st floor. We could see a lot from our balcony and windows! We walked around a bit, then went to a restaurant with phở. Phở is a famous type of Vietnamese noodle soup (pronounced, in my opinion, fur). We decided to eat it, because, since we were in Vietnam, shouldn’t we try the national dish? The phở was thơm ngon (Vietnamese for delicious).

On Friday, we wanted to spend the day walking around the city. Instead, we went to take a Cyclo (3-wheeled bicycle) tour. We saw a lot more than we would have. We went to a mall called Hongkong Market, went to a Buddha temple, ate good Vietnamese food, and experienced Saigon traffic. It was really fun. We had to close our eyes when we were going against the traffic, or perpendicularly to it!

On Sunday, we went to see the famous Water Puppet show. We sat down in the theater, and then the show began. It was great! There were dragons and unicorns and people. They moved around, talked (kind of), interacted with each other, and all of it happened in the water! There were 16 scenes, and the show went on for 45 minutes, but it felt longer. We could see the musicians and singers playing their instruments and singing. It was one of the best shows I have ever seen! The only weird thing is that the unicorns looked like dragons;)

We also went to Cu Chi Tunnels, but I will write about it in a separate post. Saigon is awesome!

You are at the end of the post. Before you leave, I will give you a secret link: https://coding–emilian1000000.repl.co/ . It’s my coding website. Don’t tell anyone!
